My name is Tammie, and I am the founder of Con Amor Gatherings. This journey was born from my love of creativity, culture, community, and connection.

I’ve long considered myself a creative and storyteller - gifts I inherited from both my parents. My dad is a handyman and woodworker who can fix and build just about anything, while my mom was the “human Pinterest” before Pinterest even existed. From an early age, I developed a love of DIY and making things from my dad, while my mom taught me to plan fun events, to pay attention to details, and to make every occasion special.

I carried my creativity into my profession, spending 17 years in higher education within Student Affairs running cultural centers, leading social justice initiatives, and student engagement activities at colleges and universities. Over the years I have planned hundreds of events - from cultural celebrations, theater productions, art showcases, dialogue groups, affinity circles, trainings, and workshops. My favorite part of the work was bringing events to life through creativity and the community that formed as a result.

As I advanced in my career, the aspects that enjoyed most became a smaller part of my role, and I found the structure of higher education made it harder and harder to fully embraced the aspects that I loved most. I eventually left my student affairs career, but knew I still wanted to foster creativity and community beyond the college environment. After years of toying with ideas of how to make that happen, Con Amor Gatherings was born - built on a mission to bring people together through creativity, community, culture, and love.
